A-Wax f/ Waka Flocka Flame – “Show The Cash” (Konvict Fake Signees, 2011)
A-Wax is a rapper from Pittsburg, CA who I don’t think we’ve talked about and we’re not going to talk about right now because I’m very tired. He made a song with Flocka and it’s nice.
I think part of why I like Flocka so much is because his lyrics are built around statements more than rhymes. It’s what is so primary about crunk shit, where the chant is just as important. Lil Jon recognized this very well but I think where Waka differs is that Lil Jon never rapped, Waka has made it the very essence of his style. Yes he rhymes but those rhymes are built around one line statements for the most part.
This is also the appeal of d-beat, hardcore, metal whatever to me, where the vocals tend to be shouted slogans. It’s perfect for yelling at an audience that is caught up in a fury. I think this is why it works so well for Waka. Most of the time he’s got lines that if just repeated could be the chorus themselves.
People complain that Waka has no lyrics or whatever the fuck but I think they are missing what he’s great at. He doesn’t need lyrics because that is not what compliments his style the best. He’s is perfect at fight music because of this, I mean fuck the dude uses his own name as a background chant, that’s the beauty of Get Buck. Waka was able to flip that and use his own name, well when he’s not yelling baow baow baow, but I find that to be great and really a brilliant way to make songs.
Yes I think that there are similarities in the appeal of both of these songs:
Now I’m not saying Waka is doing any of this consciously but it was something I noticed the other day when listening to some All Pigs Must Die and Discharge records. I don’t think it’s that far of a stretch of an idea and it does make sense to me anyways.
This is a good song
Tit Pig – Cruisin’
“This one goes out to my buttfucking hero’s, from Seattle to The Bay we’re livin all the way, bitch we’re cruisin’ again but this time we’re cruisin’ for men, cruisin for some dick, cruisin cause we’re sick, cruisin’ for a fuck, cruisin’ for a FUUUUAAAACCKK"
This joint has gotten plenty of plays from me today, that riff fucking makes this shit. This really needs to be played loud so you can get the full force. This Tit Pig tape has been getting hella fucking play the last few days, fuck dude’s got a song about being a sexual predator, mommies and daddies crying. I love the vileness of the lead singer’s voice, it’s fucking perfect for this shit. Laptop speakers really don’t do their sound justice. Prior to copping this I had only heard Acid Bath which is great but goddamn, this tape is full of fucking hits. Living Life As A Dipshit makes me want to throw things at people I don’t know. Some pretty dope ass basslines on this. Screams Of Hate too, fuck the whole tape is just full of some vicious abrasiveness that just really fucking resonates with me right now. The song Dudes Only has lines like this:
"so you can scratch your name right off of Schindler’s list, you’re getting on the train to Auschwitz bitch”
Yeah man if you want to hear soft ass love songs this shit is not for you, but if you want to roll through the gutter and break shit well then fuck with it. Tit Pig is a raw sweaty mess of awesome. I can’t wait to hear more from these dudes.
Tit Pig cassette showed up today
The Bay Area, California native and Waterloo, Iowa resident is definitely a new breath of fresh air in this hip hop genre that needs to be heard
