Every time I try to tell anyone about how most sandwiches here are are trash and how even basic bullshit on the East Coast is better they get all <em>but do they even use Boar\u2019s Head <\/em>like you could build a sandwich with two flat stones for bread\u2026<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>I wouldn\u2019t say I was\u00a0<em>gassed<\/em> on off Boar\u2019s Head growing up in San Francisco, but in California Boar\u2019s Head\u2019s merchandizing or marketing or whatever is such that it appears to be incredibly high end. Sure, you\u00a0<em>could\u00a0<\/em>go to the deli counter at Safeway and get Select brand turkey, or you could have this obscene and exotic torpedo of mozzarella and prosciutto, from Boar\u2019s Head, currently commingling in the most inappropriate ways in the fancy cheese and dips island by the checkout aisles.<\/p>\n<p>The other factor at work here is that you can\u2019t just buy a sandwich any damn place in San Francisco. It is not a city that demands every corner store have stale Portuguese rolls and Salsalito Turkey loaves. Moving to New York, I was stunned and thrilled (and eventually disgusted) to discover that even the shittiest bodega will make an edible sandwich, whenever you want. And they use Boar\u2019s Head! But, unlike in San Francisco, they can\u2019t sell you liquor. I suspect the two are related.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>If they can&rsquo;t sell liquor your corner store is fucking worthless. Make it a sandwich place and stop pretending to be a corner store with any value. <\/p>\n<p>Eastcoast bullshit old timey fuckery alcohol laws are another reason why I can never live there.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>the yung sun of no one: Dudes in the Bay Area are so gassed off Boar\u2019s Head.
